Native to South Africa, the Bigfoot Plant is a fascinating cauduciform species (meaning it has an enlarged lower stem, known as a caudex, which acts as a water storage organ.) From the swollen base of this unique member of the Cucurbitaceae (Cucumber family) grows an ivy-like vine that can reach several feet in length. Grow this species in a coarse, pebbly or sandy soil mix like our Succulent Medium, and water no more than once every two weeks or so. It enjoys bright, indirect light and can tolerate shadier locations, but never full sun.
