H. insularis is a rarity--in fact, though it was first described by botanists around 1900 from specimens collected from the rainforests of Borneo, it was only officially classified as a Hoya in 2020, having long been thought to belong to another genus of plants, until DNA analysis showed its true identity!  Weird, straw- or needle-shaped foliage makes this one unique and prized by Hoya collectors.  It's blossoms look like a cluster of shooting stars.  Give this one time for the soil to dry between thorough waterings, and avoid extremes of heat, as it enjoys average household temperatures and may suffer more than some other species from high temperatures.
